Description

What You Will Learn

Day 1: You’ll spend the first day in the classroom, delving into the operating cycle of the 1911 pistol. Topics include complete disassembly, understanding the firing cycle, and detailed discussions of each part’s proper fit and function. You will learn to identify common parts breakages, diagnose malfunctions, tune the extractor, and select proper spring weights for various calibers and sizes. Additional topics include safety checks, firing pin safeties, functional differences between models, and proper maintenance and lubrication.

Day 2: The second day begins with Clint Smith’s lecture on handgun use, focusing on 1911-specific considerations. Building on the previous day’s topics, students will learn to replace and modify key reliability components such as the extractor and firing pin stop. Using their own guns, students will install these parts and conduct live fire tests to ensure proper function.
